The Learn to Ink Active Apprentices page gives prospective students, clients, families, and future employers a transparent look at the active apprentices currently completing our structured Missouri tattoo apprenticeship program in Kansas City.
Here, you can follow each apprentice as they complete curriculum modules, earn professional certifications, perform supervised tattoo procedures, build their portfolios, serve real clients, and progress toward graduation.

My name is Hugo Lopez, born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri. As a Hispanic tattoo artist, I’m driven by Chicano style and black and gray tattooing because every piece tells a story. Drawing was always my passion, and seeing my art come to life on skin is a dream I’m committed to.
También hablo español con fluidez, y estoy aquí para la comunidad hispana. Mi arte está profundamente inspirado en mi cultura, y quiero que cada persona se sienta representada y escuchada en su arte.
When people leave my chair, I want them to feel proud like they’re carrying a part of themselves. Five or ten years from now, I want people to say, “Hugo is one of the best, he doesn’t just tattoo, he captures who we are.” I never take that trust lightly this is more than a tattoo it’s part of your story, and now, it’s part of mine.

Vanessa Romero Aguirre
Hi, I’m Vanessa, but I go by Vane (pronounced Vah-Ne). Tattooing has been my passion for the past two years, and I’m grateful to turn something I love into a career.
I specialize in black and grey, fine line, Chicano-inspired tattoos, lettering, and floral work, but I’m always excited to explore new styles and challenge myself as an artist.
My goal is to create tattoos that not only look great but also hold meaning for every client. I look forward to continuing my journey, growing as an artist, and helping people bring their ideas to life.
